Karaoke Kook

I am participating in the Blogging From A-Z Challenge.  Each day in April (except Sunday), I will post topic themes that begin with the letters of the alphabet, from A-Z.  Today's letter is K.

My name's Trish and I love karaoke.

I've always loved singing, no matter how out-of-tune or horrible it may be.  Sure, neighbors might occasionally confuse my singing with the sound of a cat being set on fire, but so what?!  As a youngster and through my early 20s, my lousy crooning was restricted to my car, bedroom, or shower.  Somewhere private with minimal witnesses.  (Trust me, it's for the greater good.)  The idea of amplifying my voice and having an audience, no matter how large or small, struck terror into my heart and kicked my sweat glands into overdrive.  Never, ever, ever would I be drunk crazy enough to subject the world to my singing, or prostrate myself before a crowd of friends and/or strangers. No.  Absolutely not.  No way, Jose!

Well, maybe under the right circumstances.  For example, maybe if  one Halloween my awesome (and obviously insane) husband installed KaraFun on his pc, decorated around our tv w/ his Freddy mask & gloves, and opened up "Kreuger Karaoke" as an activity at our annual Halloween bash.  That might entice me to publicly humiliate myself.  But how likely is that to happen?!?

Halloween 2009 - The beginning of my obsession

Halloween 2010

My hubby's 80s themed bday party - 2010

My hubby's best friend is obviously unimpressed.  Just kidding. He always looks like that.

Halloween 2012  (Yes, I re-used a costume from 2 years before. We were broke. Don't judge.)

All of this at-home karaoke madness gave me some cojones and one night a couple years ago, I actually got up on stage in front of a room full of people and gave my best "Baby Got Back" performance to date.  There's no video evidence of this happening (for your protection as well as my own), but let's just say, it won't be the last time & I may not always be lucky enough to escape the video camera.  ;)

  3. I too love singing, and I too am called Trish(a) (though most people I've ever met revert to calling me Trish, some within minutes of meeting me). We have some stuff in common! I will say I'm not a big karaoke person, but i have been known to get up there ;)

    1. Hello, fellow Trish! :) I went by Tricia until about 12 years ago when I just started introducing myself as Trish. Most of my extended family still calls me Tricia, though.

Good on you for getting up there & doing some karaoke! And thanks for reading! :)

  4. Way to go! I can't sing at all and my husband has banned me from singing whenever he is nearby. I have that same Goonies shirt that is being worn a few pictures up. It's my favorite t-shirt. And I wear the same Halloween costume over and over again, because I usually like them enough to want to keep and wear more than once.

Cool pics and thanks for sharing!

    1. Haha! I'm sure my husband has considered a singing ban, but so far he hasn't. :) We both love the goonies. That t-shirt is one of my favorites.

We save all our Halloween costumes b/c you never know when they'll come in handy, but I try very hard not to reuse them each year. Although, I loved the gypsy costume I had one year, so I'm sure I'll reuse it someday.

      Thanks for reading!

  5. Tried Karaoke a couple of times at friendly gatherings - a family reunion and a choir party. No tips in my jar. Uh-oh.

Visiting from GBE 2: Blog On page.
Hope you have a lovely weekend.

  6. Ooh, you've got to be careful with at home karaoke. I learned the hard way that if you go outside you can hear the person singing crystal clear. But the music? Not so much!

  7. Hi... ha! looks like great fun, and you are not afraid to have it! Good for you. I think that would be right up my alley, because I don't mind getting out there and having good clean fun! Come see me if you ever get time. Right now, I'm writing small episodes of a fictional story that continue from one day to the next...cliffhangers, so to speak. Best regards to you. Ruby
