Swag

I am participating in the Blogging From A-Z Challenge. Each day in April (except the last 4 Sundays), I will post topic themes that begin with the letters of the alphabet, from A-Z. Today's letter is S.

~*~*~*~

I was the recent recipient of some pretty sweet swag on Friday.

This, my friends, is what I received for being a book giver for World Book Night.  As if this pin wasn't enough, they also gave me these glow-in-the-dark stickers & a few bookmarks.

I know you're all jealous, but fear not. You, too, could have stickers, bookmarks, and a pin of your very own next year.  All you have to do is visit www.worldbooknight.org really early in the year (sometime around January or February) & sign up to be a book giver.  If you're chosen, the swag is all yours.  Of course, you shouldn't do it just for the prestige & fancy gifts.  You should do it for the love of books & for the gratification you will get knowing you helped give books to someone who may not have read them otherwise.  I think that's better than any swag.

  4. Hey blogsister - I scored one of those pins, too. (But not the bookplates, wtf?)

So happy I did it, even though I am actually a shy person and it is challenging approaching strangers, even to give them a free book. Plus I almost got arrested - but I will blog about THAT after the A-Z is over.

    1. We're a couple o' fancy broads w/ our Book Night pins! Don't be jealous of my extra swag! *lol*

I can't wait to hear the story about the almost-arrest. My book night was not nearly as eventful. I had already made arrangements to donate all the books to a local non-profit that helps homeless teens. They have a library-ish thing for the kids, so all 20 copies went there. That kind of makes me a cheater, but I was up front when I applied for the book-giver gig & said that's what I was doing w/ the books, so it must not have been against the rules. Next year I want to give them to strangers, though.
