Books and bad hair days

It's been a long Tuesday, my friends. As is usual for me during the week, my day began at the butt crack of dawn. (Also known as 4:30am) I've been trying to make an effort to wake up early enough to straighten my hair in the morning b/c I think it looks better that way. And when I think I look better, I feel better. And when I feel better, everything else gets better. I love better. Unfortunately, my bangs decided they wanted to stand straight out rather than lay flat on my forehead. (I'm not kidding...they were standing STRAIGHT OUT!) I managed to flatten them somewhat with a combination of this sleek-hair crap & a couple hours in a hat. But it was a fruitless endeavor; today was just destined to be a bad hair day.

In the midst of my hectic workday, I got a text that made me squeal: the book I've been waiting to check out from my local library SINCE JULY 12TH came in today!! Now that the other 70+ people have had their turn, I get to crack open the cover of Bossypants by Tina Fey. The anticipation was torture!!!!! But finally, it's mine for the reading. The fact that so many people had holds on that book makes me think it's going to be pretty bad ass. (Yes, I use the term "bad ass" to describe a book. Why? Because books freakin' rock, that's why.) I absolutely love books. The feel, the smell, the sound they make when opened & closed. I've always been a bookworm. If I could, I would have a personal collection of books on display that rivals our family's wall-to-wall dvd o'rama. Unfortunately, my books are relegated to the dark recesses of a box in the garage or the cabinet on my side of the bed. It's sad, really; all that awsomeness in hiding. Maybe I should convert the spare room into my own personal library. Picture it: floor-to-ceiling bookshelves jam-packed with neatly organized books of all kinds. *sigh* Heaven.

After a stop at the library to claim my long-awaited reading material, it was off to run errands before picking up my hubby then heading back for a couple more hours of work. Now that I'm home, I'm ready to throw on my Homer Simpson jammy pants, curl up on the couch, and read a little before it's time to head to bed. Tomorrow won't bring the excitement of a text from the library (nerd alert!) but if I'm lucky, maybe it will be a better hair day.

  1. I've had bangs on and offall my life so I have a tip: clips! You can get solid colored clips and bedazzled bobby pins at dollar tree an just twist those suckers back and to the side (that will also train them to not go backwards)
I'm suuuper cheap but I paid 12 bucks for bossy pants and it was worth it!! Sooo funny!
